The Pious; The Pure
YET
The (IM)Pure GANGA

Some two hundred and fifty kilometers away from Delhi, at Devprayag (Uttarakhand) (meaning Godly Confluence), two rivers namely Alaknanda originating from Satopnath glacier and Bhagirathi originating from Gomukh meet and thereon, The mighty river Ganga takes form. If you ever happen to visit Sangam as they call it, you will witness the most magnificent sight. According to Hindu Mythology, confluence of two godly rivers in their purest forms with high currents give birth to the pure, the pious Ganga. River Ganga thereon, takes it's course flowing down to Rishikesh, allowing splendid views from Lakshman Jhula reaching further to divine city of Haridwar.. The waters of Ganga at birth are pure, sea green yet icy blue.

But as it enters the God city of Haridwar, it gets maligned. I mean it. Not because it washes people off their sins (as they say), but because people carry on their daily necessary routines on the banks of river Ganga. I was in Haridwar from 12 June 2016 Sunday to 13 June 2016 Monday. I stayed at Hotel Alaknanda, a government owned well run, well maintained property. The hotel has it's personal ghat as it is built on the same stretch as that of "Har ki Pauri". I along with my family were taking a dip in the mighty "Mother" river Ganga on private ghat of Hotel Alaknanda. Suddenly, something flows to me and strikes my belly. I pick it up and throw out. What is it? A corn, an eaten corn. In Hindi, we call it "challi or "bhutta". And thereon, the saga of dirt, waste, leftovers, eatables flowing to and through me continues. And i do nothing but watch it happen helplessly. I reach a bit ahead of "Har ki Pauri" later the same day and i see a man washing his clothes in the river.

River Ganga which symbolizes purity carries dirt, waste, throwaways and left overs of the people of Haridwar and tourists too. Furthermore, devotees give in their offerings to the river at Har ki Pauri in forms of fruits, burning camphor, coins by leaving it in the waters of Ganga. And Suddenly, the blue sea green waters of Ganga turn dark grey as they make their way through Haridwar towards other regions of the nation.

It seems as if Nature sings the old song in perfect irony ~ "Raam teri Ganga maili ho gayi, paapiyon ke paap dhote dhote".

It is commendable how the roadways have improved and are improving between Delhi and Haridwar facilitating increase in tourism and trade. It is high time, The government of Haridwar (Uttarakhand) should draw their attention to the cleansing of river Ganga. I do not suggest any One hundred thousand crore budget for the same. Instead, i suggest the government should provide solutions to the people of  the city regarding problems that compel them to make use of the river making it dirty. The government should educate and entice people to look into the matters of cleanliness of River Ganga and contribute in their own little ways by not flowing there offerings in the river and many more like it.

I wrote not to grab personal attention,
but to grab everyone's attention on the need of the hour.

Farewell MANMOHAN, MODI Executed

Hi everyone! Almost a month, i scribbled something on this template to communicate and reach out to you through my views. Quite frankly, a lot has been happening on the family front. There's this lady designated (now) as my fiance, soon to be my wife who takes away my time. And she rightfully deserves that. So, bless us with all your good wishes.  But here, i am not to talk of my personal life. I had and have been reading a lot about the declining stature and reputation of Indian National Congress and the steeping heights Bhartiya Janta Party has achieved through these elections. The BJP has won the battle and now we have MR. Narendra Modi as Prime Minister of this great nation called INDIA. But, amid-st all this " halla hoo " of Election 2014, many people have been unfairly positioned and misinterpreted. And the greatest of all of them being affected, Mr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of INDIA for consecutive 10 years i.e 2004- 2014. Mr. Manmohan Si...

Yeh Bharat Desh Hai Mera (c)

The Thought Good Morning every one. On this day, the 26 of January of 2013, I put forward a poem, a compilation of thoughts about my country India. The poem is called "Yeh Bharat Desh Hai Mera". It is an attempt to bring out both the positives and negatives, this nation has to offer. This is India, a secular country to be called, but still puzzled in communal differences and riots from the times i fail to remember. This is India, where the Poor is taken care of. Where the poor or the poverty struck does not need to care about his meals of the day, for this land is never short on food for charity. This is India, where Politics is a mud-play, where the commons don't matter to the political parties. What matters is there holding within the country. This is India, where riots arise on the stupid reasons of being a Temple built or a Mosque on a piece of land. I refer to the Babri Masjid case. This is India, which was considered a third world country by the glo...

Happy Women's Day

The Thought To all the women of the world, accept this poem for all what you do for (let's admit) the men. Men are great and good but incomplete. And yes, somewhere irresponsible. So i'll not bring much to the embarrassment of my brothers round the globe and straight shot say, "Lady who the one? I say YOU the one!" Accept this poem as a token of love and respect.  A big bow to the woman of today To the thorns of forbearance laid her way To the composure, she holds within her self To the closure , that absorbs everything in itself To the mother, that woke up to get you sleeping To the mother, seeing you sad was she weeping To the beloved, who would fight the world for you To the beloved, for her happiness entirely is you To the sister, who in secret prays for you To the sister, her lips have praise for you To the granny, for you're the apple of her eye To the granny, for she's the "buri nazar" spy ...

The ANTI-Social Media

I just tweeted a few days back " I have always been a little late than others! When people tweeted, i facebook' ed . Today when i am tweeting, i wonder what's next genre? " And i seriously think i am late and lag behind in the race of the virtual world. Furthermore to console and motivate myself, i keep calling myself a bit " Retro " or a bit " Vintage ". I strongly think that Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and many other virtual worlds have encouraged, influenced the participation of  "Mango People" in important matters. The participation and the say of a common man has increased manifold. In fact, it has further broadened the horizons of human understanding about different forms of Art and Cultures. The social media has been a great aide in bringing recognition to this labyrinth of talent scattered all over the world. Politics is a clear example of how social media educates and involves people connected from all over. O...

शुभ दीपावली ~ SHUBH DEEPAWALI

शुभ दीपावली  Here's wishing you a very Happy DIWALI in advance today. This is one of the times when every city looks beautiful as anything. It does not matter if you witness this scene while you are on one of the streets of any city or you are in a plane flying over the skies of any city or you are in a train crossing the distances from one city to another amid st some villages too. It has to be a visual treat. From small houses to big mansions to corporate towers creating the skyline lit up so beautifully, they surely make up for a visual treat . It's like being invited to the visual Feast of the Almighty himself. All that is good but there's one thing that's not good post Diwali. While we enjoy Diwali with our family and friends by burning crackers, there is a Cumulative Diwali Syndrome being build up in the air which would act very soon on every one, once Diwali is over. We, the people, birds and animals are the ones who suffer from this la...
