शुभ दीपावली
Here's wishing you a very Happy DIWALI in advance today. This is one of the times when every city looks beautiful as anything. It does not matter if you witness this scene while you are on one of the streets of any city or you are in a plane flying over the skies of any city or you are in a train crossing the distances from one city to another amid st some villages too. It has to be a visual treat.
From small houses to big mansions to corporate towers creating the skyline lit up so beautifully, they surely make up for a visual treat . It's like being invited to the visual Feast of the Almighty himself. All that is good but there's one thing that's not good post Diwali. While we enjoy Diwali with our family and friends by burning crackers, there is a Cumulative Diwali Syndrome being build up in the air which would act very soon on every one, once Diwali is over. We, the people, birds and animals are the ones who suffer from this labyrinth of poisonous smoke build up. This Cumulative Diwali Syndrome is nothing but the unimaginable Air pollution that happens on the night of Diwali. I am sure many of you have witnessed this. Post Diwali, it is hard to drive because of the smoke all around. If we could beat that, there is this appealing fragrance of the smoke which plays havoc to our environment. You might be wondering how does the smoke of some crackers, that too of just two nights play is hazardous for our environment. Know what! not just environment, it does affect our health too.
Do one thing. Ask a person who suffers from Asthma, or such breathing complexities. That person would be in a much better position to describe the feeling of surviving in the middle of smoke.

I an no environmentalist or an ecology lawyer for that matter. All i am saying is you don't need to burn crackers for a happy Diwali. You could just sit in your balcony or your attic or your porch looking at the beautiful view your place has to offer, your locality has to offer, your city has to offer. Have a nice dinner with your family and friends. Play some indoor games. People do play cards. There's a negative side to it but it does make your sharp.
And if you go by the mythology my friend, Lord Ram, Maa Sita or Lord Lakshman never said, "Hey we are Back! Let's bring up the smoke. Let's create Pollution." When Lord Ram returned with his wife Sita and his brother Lakshman after 14 years of exile, the whole city was lit up to welcome them.
Let's just light up the whole city this Diwali in and welcome all the happiness and prosperity and not create smoke.
And after all this, if you are still going to be in the company of crackers,
PLEASE BE SAFE
