This is going to be long but in the end you will find it worth while.
I clearly remember my father bringing home the very first cellular phone launched in India. The geometry box, so rock solid that it could be used as weapon in self defense. Back then, it was all exclusive. Having a cellular phone and making calls from it was one thing that added to a man's repute. Till i completed my graduation and did my post graduation, evolution took it's toll. Technology advanced and evolved. The same phone which could be used as weapon in self defense was available in a size that could fit in your palm. I was smitten by fantasy of cellphone possession. I got one when i stepped into college. There were less of calls made but more of text messages exchanged. If there was a love affair happening, the spine would be the love TEXT message coming from the beloved.
Insanity was when people went broke on there balance in there phone connections. They could not make a call but could text anyone because they got a recharge of Rs.36 for 200 free messages. Then came my job in 2011 and i was introduced to the new status quotient ~ A Blackberry phone. The catch was the blackberry messenger. If you have a blackberry and want to communicate with a person having a blackberry anywhere in the world, BBM (Blackberry Messenger) is at your service. Chat through BBM for free. Blackberry phones did spread like a wildfire within the entire nation. If you had to buy a phone, you would close your eyes, raise your hands up and shout to the sky OH BLACKBERRY! (Ha Ha)
Then came this app, another messenger called WhatsApp. A brainchild from the former employees of Yahoo!. Gradually people started loosing there interest in Blackberry phones because no matter what phone they had, it would qualify for a WhatsApp download. Once you are on WhatsApp, you talk to the world for free. Whatsapp became the new mail. You had to send a file, a word doc, a picture, a music file or any other thing of that sort to your friend or a business acquaintance, you would just WhatsApp it. All this is good.
I am a Blackberry boy and this is the part i like the most. Blackberry sales literally stooped because of there devices. Blackberry was more or less BROKE. Blackberry played it's TRUMP CARD by offering BBM on other phones too. When the world was calling Blackberry a flop show, Blackberry put it's BBM on download for Android and IOS supporting devices. And every one came hovering for a BBM download on the app store. It is recent that people have been assigned numbers, in accordance to which they will be assigned there BBM pins. Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp are flooded with Individual BBM pins.
And that's how you win the race even when you loose.
A Dialogue that fits in for Blackberry right here, from Blackberry's end is as follows:

Aur haar kar jeetney waale ko BAAZIGAR kehte hain"
