Religion Versus Spirituality

The world today is really fast. The world today is really monetary, really fiscal. A mere road side barber talks of money with as much passion as that of a Wall Street Scout. What differentiates these two guys is the scale at which they operate, the volumes at which they operate and the way they operate. In fact, if I dare say; the barber in comparison to Wall Street Scout would not even exist. But the passion, his sheer passion drags him to competition. But this is everywhere; in nook n corner of every neighborhood  every city, every town and every country. We walk down the streets and see advertisements, hoardings of various businesses, which sounds perfect to me and should to many alike me. What comes like a needle in the eye is Commercialising Religion. I see Business houses advertising themselves at religious places, exhibiting there charity contributions, putting up sale hoardings just at the doorstep of a Shrine, a Mosque, a Temple, a Church, a Gurudwara or any such religious place that binds people. I've often been to these sacred festivals of different communities being held in temples where the people are called upon and greeted and welcomed as the owner of such and such business house.

People have started commercialising Religion.

People have started using these holy places to marginally increase their client base. People or should I say Businesses have started luring clients in the name of God. This is one way Religion is coming as a powerful weapon to big business houses. But as far as it has no violence attached to it, I don’t see any harm in it. Any religion today, in order to prosper, in order to grow, in order to penetrate needs one powerful tool and that tool is MONEY. Various religious festivals and gatherings are organised and celebrated at unimaginable scales. It is fun to go into a Ram leela or a Dussehra or Diwali MELA or a Janamashtami MELA. It is great to see Gurupurab or Christmas or Eid being celebrated on such large scales because somewhere, it plays a huge role in keeping the respective cultures alive. It is a visual medium and has a far more strong impact than the holy books.

But how are these larger than life events organised? Where does all the money come from?

The money comes from Businesses, Sponsorships and I thank them for it. Money is the most important factor that helps execute a great cultural evening. People might disagree with my thought but I would like to quote a sloka in Sanskrit here:

 वित्तेन रक्शयते धर्मो , विद्या योगेण रक्शयते
म्रिदुयाना रक्शयते भूपः ,सिस्त्रिया रक्शयते गृहम

 And it says,

Dharma is protected by Money, Education by Practice
King is protected by his Politeness and a home by good Women

For any religion to survive, Money is a very important input. And as long as the culture, the religion stays alive in the minds and hearts of generations to come, I don’t see a problem in commercialising it.

RELIGION is a very sensitive and a very dangerous word. Religion has an unmatched amount of power which drives people to live the kind of lives they live, the kind of work they do, the kind of people they become. It’s a common saying that:

Never a man commits himself to something in Life, as passionately as in the name of RELIGION

I happen to see the hate speech, delivered by Akbaruddin Owaisi in Hyderabad in Broad day light. This man openly and shamelessly is attempting to entice the entire Indian Muslim community in the name of Islam. Addressing other communities as Hindustan and Indian Muslims as a different entity altogether is a heinous act of Segregation. Moreover placing your religion over other religions with an example of there respective cremation practices is as disgusting as it can get. Insulting the Lords and goddesses of a particular religion reflects the demented mind he carries within his soil. Further creating rage amongst Indian Muslims by provoking them on the basis of there minority in India and further instilling the hatred, the shallow anger in the hearts of Indian Muslims and telling them to commit acts of violence if they wish to, for Akbaruddin Owaisi backs them. And as he delivers his speech and quotes certain verses from the holy Quran, the outrage can be seen in the minds of the people present there.

Religion came into origin through mankind in order to create a feeling of oneness, brotherhood, optimism. It's purpose was to guide people to lead a good life, lead there lives by certain principles. No religion tells you to hurt people, commit violence, and follow false practices. Religion was synonymous to Spiritual ism. Should I say, Religion was Spiritual ism. But being Religious and Being Spiritual, today have two different meanings. Religion today segregates you from the humankind, classifying you under one head, to follow the norms.

The Irony is, We get so busy performing and living by the norms that we almost forget to praise the Almighty.

Religion as I said, is more of a weapon or a tool to turn the tide in your favor or against an opponent. Religion is that sweet knife which kills "Secular ism", of which India boasts of. Spiritual ism is all about being thankful to God-the almighty, the Creation, the Existence itself. It's about experiencing the solitude, the different currents mother nature has to offer.

So the next time you claim you're religious, think about it. You might be compelled to use the word Spiritual to put yourself in good light because Religion has been maligned to the core by some Parasites breathing amongst us.

Farewell MANMOHAN, MODI Executed

Hi everyone! Almost a month, i scribbled something on this template to communicate and reach out to you through my views. Quite frankly, a lot has been happening on the family front. There's this lady designated (now) as my fiance, soon to be my wife who takes away my time. And she rightfully deserves that. So, bless us with all your good wishes.  But here, i am not to talk of my personal life. I had and have been reading a lot about the declining stature and reputation of Indian National Congress and the steeping heights Bhartiya Janta Party has achieved through these elections. The BJP has won the battle and now we have MR. Narendra Modi as Prime Minister of this great nation called INDIA. But, amid-st all this " halla hoo " of Election 2014, many people have been unfairly positioned and misinterpreted. And the greatest of all of them being affected, Mr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of INDIA for consecutive 10 years i.e 2004- 2014. Mr. Manmohan Si...

Yeh Bharat Desh Hai Mera (c)

The Thought Good Morning every one. On this day, the 26 of January of 2013, I put forward a poem, a compilation of thoughts about my country India. The poem is called "Yeh Bharat Desh Hai Mera". It is an attempt to bring out both the positives and negatives, this nation has to offer. This is India, a secular country to be called, but still puzzled in communal differences and riots from the times i fail to remember. This is India, where the Poor is taken care of. Where the poor or the poverty struck does not need to care about his meals of the day, for this land is never short on food for charity. This is India, where Politics is a mud-play, where the commons don't matter to the political parties. What matters is there holding within the country. This is India, where riots arise on the stupid reasons of being a Temple built or a Mosque on a piece of land. I refer to the Babri Masjid case. This is India, which was considered a third world country by the glo...

Happy Women's Day

The Thought To all the women of the world, accept this poem for all what you do for (let's admit) the men. Men are great and good but incomplete. And yes, somewhere irresponsible. So i'll not bring much to the embarrassment of my brothers round the globe and straight shot say, "Lady who the one? I say YOU the one!" Accept this poem as a token of love and respect.  A big bow to the woman of today To the thorns of forbearance laid her way To the composure, she holds within her self To the closure , that absorbs everything in itself To the mother, that woke up to get you sleeping To the mother, seeing you sad was she weeping To the beloved, who would fight the world for you To the beloved, for her happiness entirely is you To the sister, who in secret prays for you To the sister, her lips have praise for you To the granny, for you're the apple of her eye To the granny, for she's the "buri nazar" spy ...

The ANTI-Social Media

I just tweeted a few days back " I have always been a little late than others! When people tweeted, i facebook' ed . Today when i am tweeting, i wonder what's next genre? " And i seriously think i am late and lag behind in the race of the virtual world. Furthermore to console and motivate myself, i keep calling myself a bit " Retro " or a bit " Vintage ". I strongly think that Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and many other virtual worlds have encouraged, influenced the participation of  "Mango People" in important matters. The participation and the say of a common man has increased manifold. In fact, it has further broadened the horizons of human understanding about different forms of Art and Cultures. The social media has been a great aide in bringing recognition to this labyrinth of talent scattered all over the world. Politics is a clear example of how social media educates and involves people connected from all over. O...

शुभ दीपावली ~ SHUBH DEEPAWALI

शुभ दीपावली  Here's wishing you a very Happy DIWALI in advance today. This is one of the times when every city looks beautiful as anything. It does not matter if you witness this scene while you are on one of the streets of any city or you are in a plane flying over the skies of any city or you are in a train crossing the distances from one city to another amid st some villages too. It has to be a visual treat. From small houses to big mansions to corporate towers creating the skyline lit up so beautifully, they surely make up for a visual treat . It's like being invited to the visual Feast of the Almighty himself. All that is good but there's one thing that's not good post Diwali. While we enjoy Diwali with our family and friends by burning crackers, there is a Cumulative Diwali Syndrome being build up in the air which would act very soon on every one, once Diwali is over. We, the people, birds and animals are the ones who suffer from this la...
